Bosque del Apache: Birds, Light, and Reflections

Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge is one of North America’s great sanctuaries for migratory birds. Each winter, thousands of cranes and geese gather in shallow ponds and golden grasses. These photographs capture clouds of birds almost obscuring the dawn sky, and the moments of cranes resting in evening light. The images celebrate the rhythms of migration and the timeless beauty of a New Mexico wetland.
