What do I mean by "fine art photography"?
"Truth is beauty, beauty truth" John Keats (see whole poem, "Ode on a Grecian Urn," here.)
Some of my photographs can be seen as the work of a naturalist. Although they should catch your eye with their beauty, the POINT of the photographs in this collection is their beauty. Some of these feature people. Even when they do not, they whisper to you of our HUMAN need for beauty.1
Snags And Their Allies

“Snags” are standing dead trees — sculptural, stark, and alive with meaning. I photograph them as sentinels in the forest: home to many insects, perches for woodpeckers and owls, reminders of life’s cycles. Weathered bark, twisted grain, and luminous skies turn decay into beauty. This gallery is about endurance and transformation — how even the remains of trees continue to define the wild landscapes around them.
