I live in one of those states—Arizona— anyone would love to count as "locations near me to take pictures" and indeed fabulous pictures. My home is in Flagstaff, elevation 7000.’ Other places to take pictures include the Verde Valley, Central Arizona (Phoenix) and Southern Arizona (Tucson). From 7000 feet, the drive is downhill. But the quality of photographs to be shot south of us is not a downhill ride! Saguaro cactus dotting the desert hill and mountains is a sight to see. Here I share it with you, bathed in the light of sunrises and sunsets.

My best photographs from Tucson and other points south in the state of Arizona
I live in the city of Flagstaff in Northern Arizona, elevation 7000'. Particularly during winter, we enjoy traveling to the deserts iconic of our state. For a broad view of the whole state, I again recommend this "through the lens" group focusing [yes] on Arizona, found here.
Tucson is surrounded by mountain ranges like the Catalinas. Catalina State Park (click here) is a great place for photographers. I recommend it!
I specifically recommend Mount Lemmon Scenic Byway! It runs through Coronado National Forest, which calls it Catalina Highway Scenic Drive.
