Sometimes we see in nature what we might have studied in school: geometry. This gallery consists of shapes that may provide a new way of looking at life and death all around us. Two of this gallery’s founding images are compelling in part because they are a bit disturbing at small and large scales, the smaller sphere — the hemisphere of the bison's skeleton— and the larger, a bend in a large river, the shape cut into rock by larger scale processes of erosion. I loved my geometry classes in high school. I hope you love these geometric images and my thoughts about them.
