Snags And Their Allies

“Snags” are standing dead trees — sculptural, stark, and alive with meaning. I photograph them as sentinels in the forest: home to many insects, perches for woodpeckers and owls, reminders of life’s cycles. Weathered bark, twisted grain, and luminous skies turn decay into beauty. This gallery is about endurance and transformation — how even the remains of trees continue to define the wild landscapes around them. For more shots of twisted grain see my Droplets and Texture gallery and my Northern Arizona gallery.
